The vineyard was mostly planted in the winter of 2002. A small addition was made in winter 2003. We grow solely Pinot Noir. The clones are 114, 5, 777, 667 and 115. We have a range of clones to add complexity to our wine and also iron our the plants response to the varying vintage weather. They are grafted on to american rootstocks to stop any potential infestation of phylloxera.
These days the roots are estimated to be more than 3m deep. Close planting, free draining soils and low irrigation have aided this. As they get older they seem to get more used to our management and are easier to maintain. All the while they express more consistently the character of the site.
